5 Bets to Make this Week
A new wrinkle with 5 Bets this week as we look at the players and teams that are in favor and out of favor and look at who they face this week.
For this week’s 5 Bets we are going to try something a little different and look at some of the NFL players, and teams that are doing well and some not so well and predict how they will fare this week.
There are some shining stars this season and some others that are just unable to turn that corner and really get their season started.. Let’s take a look at how they earned their distinctions of either being in favor or falling out of favor.
5 Bets to Make this Week
- Dallas Cowboys -5 over Green Bay Packers
- San Francisco 49ers -7 over LA Chargers
- Las Vegas Raiders -6.5 over Indianapolis Colts
- Philadelphia Eagles -11 over Washington Commanders
- New York Giants -6.5 over Houston Texans
Rodgers on Ropes in Lost Season
Out of Favor: Aaron Rodgers
Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers doesn’t look like he wants to be out on the football field. The veteran quarterback is saddled with a bad Packers team that is 3-6 and has no hopes of getting to the playoffs.
Rodgers lost his deep threat when Davante Adams went to the Las Vegas Raiders in the offseason and he is left with young wide receivers he doesn’t trust.
Green Bay is hosting the Dallas Cowboys who are looking like a playoff contender. They are first in sacks, third in turnovers caused, and third in points allowed.
The Packers are 14th in total offense, 27th in points per game and middle of the pack in passing and rushing. Lambeau Field used to be an advantage for Green Bay but Sunday’s game will feel like it’s being played on a neutral field.

49ers Flex Healthy Roster on Chargers
In favor: San Francisco 49ers
The San Francisco 49ers were a pretty battered football team. They were missing key pieces like Deebo Samuel, Kyle Juszczyk, and Elijah Mitchell, but they’re all expected to be back in the lineup when they face the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.
The 49ers’ defense has been stronger than many realize. They are first in yards allowed, averaging 285.9 a game and are sixth in points allowed, with an average of 18.2.
The Chargers are inexplicitly at 5-3 despite having arguably the most injuries of any NFL team this season. They have had some lucky wins this season but that won’t happen this Sunday against San Francisco.
Prediction: 49ers -7 over Chargers (-110 at BetRivers)
Watch: Sunday, 8:20 p.m. ET, NBC, FuboTV

Raiders, Colts Battle of Train Wrecks
Out of Favor: Las Vegas Raiders, Indianapolis Colts
It’s hard to determine which team is having a worse season, the Las Vegas Raiders or the Indianapolis Colts. The Colts fired their head coach because they paid too much for an aging quarterback and somebody had to take the fall. They replaced Frank Reich with Jeff Saturday, a former player who has no collegiate or professional coaching experience. That should go well.
The Raiders might also be losing their head coach soon. Josh McDaniels has watched big leads disappear this season. The latest was last week when they were up 17-0 over the Jacksonville Jaguars and managed to lose to one of the worst teams in the league.
Now the Raiders and Colts face each other and with the line under a touchdown in favor of Las Vegas, it seems that’s the way to go. The Raiders can’t choke away two games in a row, can they?
Prediction: Raiders -6.5 over Colts (-110 at Unibet)

Hurts Looks for Second Win over Commanders
In favor: Jalen Hurts
When will the undefeated Philadelphia Eagles lose a game this season? It shouldn’t be this week when they host the Washington Commanders. Especially with Philadelphia quarterback Jalen Hurts.
Hurts is having his best season so far and has lead the Eagles to not only an 8-0 record, but the second spot in the NFL in points per game, and fourth in total yards.
He’s also getting serious consideration for MVP. He is tied for second at +250, just behind Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes. He can add to his chances with a win over Washington at home on Sunday. The Eagles beat the Commanders in September 24-8. I like them to beat up on them again.
Prediction: Eagles -11 over Commanders (-110 at BetMGM)
Watch: Monday, 8:15 p.m. ET, ESPN, FuboTV
New customers at BetMGM start with a risk-free bet, up to $1000. Simply sign up, make a deposit and place your first wager. If the bet loses, you’ll receive the amount of your wager back in free bets.
Giants Stand Tall Over Texans
In favor: New York Giants
What has gotten into the New York City football teams. First the New York Jets go out last Sunday and beat the Buffalo Bills, improving their record to 6-3 and enter the playoff picture.
Now the New York Giants are making waves in the NFC East, posting a 6-2 record and winning two straight.
The Giants host the 1-6 Houston Texans on Sunday and if the Cowboys fall to the Packers, will be alone in second place in the conference. Houston may definitely oblige.
Prediction: Giants -6.5 over Texans (-110 at Bet365)
Watch: Sunday, 1 p.m. ET, CBS, FuboTV
