Best Player Picks for NFL Draft Day

The NFL Draft starts Thursday and while the first pick seems to be predetermined, there are several other bets to take advantage of.

The NFL Draft begins Thursday and there is a lot of speculation on who will be the first overall pick. The heavy favorite is quarterback Bryce Young at -1250. The next pick is quarterback Will Levis, who has shot up on mock drafts, at +700.

That pick seems to be set, and there is obviously no value there. But, there are plenty of other draft odds that bettors should look at that could pay off quite nicely.

We take a look at several prop bets for the NFL Draft and why we think they could be beneficial to take.

Cardinals Seek Help for Rushing Woes

The Arizona Cardinals are a mess defensively. Last year they ranked 24th in sacks and 21st in yards allowed. They definitely are looking for an edge rusher.

Will Anderson could be the anchor Arizona is looking for on defense. He comes from an established program in the Alabama Crimson Tide. The Cardinals have the third pick and the first two selections look to be quarterbacks.

BetMGM has Anderson at +400 to be the No. 3 pick. They also have him at +100 to be the first defensive player pick. This would make a nice little parlay.

Raiders Looking for Cornerback

The Las Vegas Raiders have the seventh pick in the draft and all indications point to a cornerback. It appears Devon Witherspoon is going to be taking a spot ahead of the Raiders by the Detroit Lions.

Christian Gonzalez, however, should still be available and he’ll give Las Vegas a quality cornerback to shore up a definite weakness for the team.

Unibet has a defensive back at +205 for the Raiders first pick. I like the odds on what should be a no brainer for Las Vegas.

Take Under on Defensive Backs

There are some quality cornerbacks in this year’s NFL Draft, but as far as safeties there is a drop off in talent.

Some mock drafts have as many as seven defensive backs going in the first round. That might be a stretch. The total for backs taken in the first round is 5.5. The under is +155 and that might be the play here.

Brian Branch, Christian Gonzalez, Joey Porter Jr., and Devon Witherspoon should all be taken in the first round. Here’s a little tip; the NFL invited just those four to attend the draft in person.

Deonte Banks could sneak into the first round, but Julius Brents and DJ Turner can definitely wait until the second round.

Running Backs Not Valuable

There was a time in the NFL when running backs were a precious commodity. Those days are gone, however.

Now running backs are almost an afterthought. The total for running backs taking in the first round is 1.5, with the Over at -180 and the Under at +145.

Texas Longhorns star Bijan Robinson is expected to go high in the first round. He is the best back in the draft since Saquon Barkley. He’s a lock to go in the first round.

The next pick at that position would probably be Jahmyr Gibbs of Alabama. He’s not nearly as talented as Robinson and with a board loaded with quarterbacks, wide receivers and edge rushers, I can definitely see him falling into the second day.
