NFL Draft Sleeper Picks Anything but Drowsy
The NFL Draft attention is always focused on who will go No. 1 but there are several sleeper picks that should provide an immediate impact for teams.
The NFL Draft is actually one of the most viewed sports events of the year, and it isn’t even a game. All 32 NFL teams make their selections each year from the college ranks. The most coveted of these picks is obviously the first overall pic. Of course there have been many examples of lower picks that have made a significant impact on their teams. Let’s take a look at some guys who might have that same impact in this year’s draft class.
The 2023 NFL Draft is slated to start on Thursday, April 27, and you will be able to watch it on multiple channels such as ESPN and NFL Network. The draft spans multiple days, with Round 1 having its own exclusive night on Thursday, and ending with Round 7 on Saturday, April 29.

NFL Draft Sleeper Best Bets
Hendon Hooker: There has been serious speculation that the Tennessee star QB could go in the first round. That would be shocking following his injury at the end of the college football season. There is no denying his talent, but for him to go in the first round would be a shock. If he does it could affect the total number of quarterbacks selected. The line right now is 4.5, with the Under at -140 and the Over at +110.
Bijan Robinson: Robinson isn’t really a sleeper per se. He is the best running back in this draft and a true game-changer. He’ll be more of the same in the NFL, but he probably won’t be a first-round pick because he doesn’t play a premium position. Running backs aren’t valued anymore because they are a dime a dozen. Robinson, however, is a rare talent at the position. He will have a huge impact on whatever offense he joins.
His has been projected at the No. 21 pick to the Los Angeles Chargers in several mock drafts.
Stinson Bennett: Is it possible that the two-time National Champion quarterback goes undrafted? One oddsmaker has him as a +125 pick to not get selected. His odds are +300 for being drafted in the seventh round, +300 in the sixth round, +400 in the fifth round, +700 in the fourth round, +2,000 in the third round, +5,000 in the second round and +10,000 in the first round.
Bennett’s size, 5-foot-11-inches, 192 pounds, has reportedly been a concern for several NFL general managers. He didn’t help his cause by being arrested in January for being drunk in public.
Still, there has to be a team that wants a QB with a strong arm. He may fall in the draft, but should get picked up at some point.

NFL Draft Sleeper History
Over the years, we have seen so many late-round picks that have become superstars in the NFL, so it truly doesn’t matter where you go in the draft. In fact, the greatest player in league history was a sixth-round pick.
Michigan QB Tom Brady didn’t have the athleticism you look for in a professional quarterback at the draft combine, but he proved everyone wrong, and we know how history played out with him. He’s not the only draft sleeper that has been a massive success in the NFL. Chicago Bears defensive end Richard Dent was an eighth-round pick back when that round existed. Nowadays, he would have gone undrafted. He led the infamous 1985 Bears defense. He was the Super Bowl MVP that year, and is now an NFL Hall of Famer. Former Denver Broncos running back Terrell Davis was a sixth round pick, while former Los Angeles Rams DE Deacon Jones was a 14th-round pick. Both are now Hall of Famers.
You never know who you’ll find in each draft that can make an impact on your team. There are plenty of choices. Sleepers will be there, but the hard part is finding who they are.
