PokerStars, Mount Airy to Offer Online Poker, Sports Betting in Pennsylvania
PokerStars is partnering with Mount Airy Casino Resort to bring online poker and sports betting to Pennsylvania, according to Online Poker Report.
“As one of Pennsylvania’s leaders in entertainment, offering internet sports wagering and gaming and partnering with The Stars Group is the obvious next step for us to continue diversifying our casino offerings,” Vincent Jordan, vice president of marketing and gaming operations for Mount Airy, said in a statement.
“Introducing internet gaming through The Stars Group will provide compelling opportunities for our customers, particularly our younger customers, who are ready to experience the next gaming challenge.”
PokerStars currently operates online poker and online casino games in New Jersey. Expanding into Pennsylvania will likely be popular with players.
Mount Airy is also expected to work with online casino operator 888, which already operates in New Jersey.
Pennsylvania could also potentially join New Jersey, Delaware and Nevada in a multistate player pool.
Mount Airy is the second casino in Pennsylvania to announce plans to offer sports betting. Parx Casino also said it would add sports betting.
Few details of the sports betting plans were available.
Sports wagering is open to any Pennsylvania casino, both on-site and online, willing to pay the hefty $10 million licensing fee. Casinos are also only allowed to have one branded website for sports wagering, so it’s not clear how Mount Airy’s sports betting site with 888 will be branded.
Rush Street Gaming, owner of SugarHouse Casino and Rivers Casino, also has signed a deal for sports betting.
